EB-5 Regional Center Statute Extended

The national EB-5 regional center trade association has just confirmed what I predicted last week: the omnibus funding legislation that will pass on March 23, 2018 will include an extension of the current EB-5 Regional Center Program through September 30, 2018.  This means that for now, the minimum investment amount remains at $500,000 in a targeted employment area (TEA).

While Congress failed to change the EB-5 visa program, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which is the agency that runs the program, may issue new regulations to increase the investment amount.  USCIS published such regulations in January 2017 and can implement them at any time.  Thus, it is wise for investors to file their EB-5 I-526 petitions now, while the minimum investment amount remains $500,000.
